Use cases
What Relab is for
Section titled “What Relab is for”Relab documents real products as they are taken apart: product identity, component hierarchy, photos, measurements, material notes, and uncertainty in one record.
The main use case is research data collection for durable goods, with enough structure for later comparison and still practical on a lab bench or in a repair workspace.
Typical contributors include:
- repairers and refurbishers
- manual dismantlers and recyclers
- researchers and lab assistants
- citizen scientists
What Relab is not
Section titled “What Relab is not”Relab is not:
- a general-purpose product lifecycle management system
- a mass-scale crowdsourcing platform
- a fully automated computer-vision pipeline
- a highly elastic cloud-native platform
The narrow scope keeps the platform small enough for a small research team to run.
